This course is offered year round as a private lesson.
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
After the classroom portion is concluded student live fires on range for separate fee . The student is responsible for range fees, targets, ammunition, and gun rental (If needed) at the range being used. Each facility offers different handgun rentals. Mike Raahauge Shooting Enterprises offers only 2 Glock models to try. Each range will issue hearing and eye protection. Instructor will stay with student at range for up to two hours.
This course is at least 4 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. Upon completion of the class, an NRA Safety certificate will be issued by mail.
